Amanda Makepeace - Artist Guest of Honor

Amanda Makepeace is an award-winning artist whose work has appeared on the covers of both fiction and nonfiction books, in several ENnie award-winning games, and in genre magazines like Amazing Stories and Fireside Fiction. Through her art, she explores mythology, magical beings, our connection to the planet, and even distant worlds. She works in both digital and traditional mediums, sometimes combining the two. Her illustrations won a Chesley Award in both 2019 and 2020 for best Paperback Cover Illustration.


In 2016, Amanda co-founded the Bird Whisperer Project with her creative cohort Melissa Gay. The project is a monthly art challenge devoted to encouraging artists of all skill levels to have fun creating a piece of art based on a single reference photo of a bird. The project has attracted industry professionals, hobbyists, and children from around the world. In recent years, the Bird Whisperer Project has teamed up with the Changeling Artist Collective to raise funds for the National Audubon Society in a yearly charity event called Operation Gaia. In 2020, the Audubon Society interviewed Amanda to feature the project on their website.

Amanda is an active participant in Fantasy and SciFi conventions in the southeast. When she’s not in the studio, she can be found reconnecting with nature and the woods that inspired her as a child. For more about Amanda and here amazing art, visit her page
