Rob Cerio was born at an early age, and has since grown much more hair. He has been writing since the age of nine, but has only recently broken through to the ranks of "professional writer". At Dragon*Con 2004, Dr. Demento declared “the great Luke Ski” to be his radio program’s “Most Requested Artist of the 21st Century”. Since then, Luke has held onto that title by having a song within the top five of “The Dr. Demento Show’s” year-end “Funny 25″ countdown of his most requested songs of the year for five years in a row, including two of them at #1 (”Peter Parker” featuring Sudden Death in 2002, and “Stealing Like A Hobbit” in 2003).

His song parodies, originals, stand-up and sketches about pop culture pheonema (doot doo, do-do-do!) have make him a favorite performer at science-fiction and fandom conventions all across the midwest and beyond.

Memorial Guest of Honor - Jim Mulé

(Not) A Bio of Jim Mulé by Dan Stocker

Why am I writing anything about Jim Mulé? There are several ways to answer.

  1. I was lucky enough to know him. Not as well as some, but better than most. I'm certainly not qualified to write a bio for him, but I'm well qualified to describe the kind of man he was.
  2. I happened to be there for most of the events that make Jim one of the most important figures in New Orleans fan history. Vul-Con was a big part of my life.
  3. I asked to.
  4. No one else would.
  5. Jim Mulé was not the first fan to organize in New Orleans, but for a while he was the most important.

Kurt Amacker

Kurt Amacker

Kurt Amacker rose, fully formed, out of the nether realms of New Orleans in 1980.  The place hasn’t been quite right since.

He graduated from Loyola University in 2002 and had a brief stint with the Marine Corps that ended honorably in 2004.  During that time, he began work on his first comic miniseries — a bit of supernatural-noir-pulp called Dead Souls, which has garnered praise from the likes of Alan Moore and Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth.  Amacker continues to write comics for Seraphemera Books, with his newest project Immortal: 60 just launched.  He also freelances for Mania.com, and had a stint as a Goth club DJ and concert promoter that went on far too long.  He will have a feature in the December issue of Alan Moore's magazine Dodgem Logic.  The trade paperback collection of Dead Souls will be released in February.  He lives in New Orleans with his wife, Sabrina.

Chris Berman

Chris Berman

You could call me the accidental author. While recovering from a bicycle versus SUV accident, I wrote my first novel, The Hive. The Hive invaded American and United Kingdom bookstores in February of 2009. After completing this book, I wrote Red Moon. Now, Star Pirates has just been released and a new novel, Das Bell, has been submitted for publishing.

I love science fiction. I grew up as a young boy on a diet of science fiction from authors such as Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke and John Campbell. Later, I added others, such as Alan Dean Foster, Ben Bova, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Eric Flint, Harry Turtledove and James P. Hogan to my list of favorites. Science fiction was not my only passion, so was science fact. As a boy, I lived a few blocks down from a serious amateur astronomer. This man taught me about the stars and planets as well as how to photograph astronomical events and grind my own mirrors and lenses to make telescopes. I am also a spaceflight enthusiast. I have good deal of expertise in both the US and Russian space programs, and I hold a Masters degree in Military History.

Diana Rowland

Diana Rowland

Diana Rowland has lived her entire life below the Mason-Dixon line, uses "y'all" for second-person-plural, and otherwise has no southern accent (in her opinion.) She somehow managed to eke out a BS in Applied Mathematics from Georgia Tech, and after graduation forgot everything about higher math as quickly as possible.

She has worked as a bartender, a blackjack dealer, a pit boss, a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator, and a morgue assistant, which means that she's seen a helluva lot of weird crap. She won the marksmanship award in her Police Academy class, has a black belt in Hapkido, has handled numerous dead bodies in various states of decomposition, and can't rollerblade to save her life.
